It was a Friday after work in the summer, and I was making my usual trek from Hamilton to Norfolk County (where I grew up and where I still spend a lot of my summer) for the weekend - I believe it was the chicken BBQ at the Teeterville Legion the following day. As usual, I stopped in to see what was up with the SOR on the way. I found them down in Nanticoke and it looked like they were getting ready to head in Garnet, so I waited around a bit for the "chase" north. They soon departed, taking their time between concessions, seemingly to allow me to catch them at every crossing where they would put on a good show each time. They arrived in Garnet as the sun was beginning to set, and tied the train down at the north end of the yard, so I waited around a bit to capture this shot. With word that 4001 (which had been sitting at Railcare since the CN takeover in Hamilton in December 2018) went down to Garnet today on 580, it again got me thinking about 3049, which has sat seemingly untouched at Railcare since September. I am wondering if the sun has set for good on it, or what its future holds.

The head end hoppers and centrebeams are to be dropped at CGC on the way to Paris, and it looks like a pretty healthy string of coils out of Stelco were heading north as well. The usual assortment of tanks brought up the rear. The trailing units were QGRY 2500 and RLHH 3404.
