Well I got a new lens (50mm f/1.8) this week, and here is the first post with it. TH41 is pictured here with a three pack of GP20C-ECOs heading back to Kinnear after a trip up the Belt to work the interchange, Adams Yard, Parkland Terminals, AIM (Strathearne Yard), NSC, and Adams Yard again. The weather was quite fussy today - sunny one minute and snow squalls the next. Kept me guessing at least - and kept me on my toes with my settings. This was a shot I'd be hoping to do for a while, and after digging around on RP after getting home this afternoon it might be because the idea was somewhere in my subconscious - Steve did a similar shot in early 2018 (link here).

  1. You gonna tell us of your north end stories?

Honestly i’m beginning to question my sanity going into the North End lately considering the violence..

  2. Haha I mean of all the times I have railfanned around there, it was the first noteworthy encounter. I didn’t really feel threatened at any point, just thought it was pretty odd of them to ask the guy with the camera around his neck that question.

  3. Hey cool. Someone else shoots with a 50mm prime. It’s been my main weapon for the vast majority of my rail pics. :-)

  4. It’s a fun lens! Conversations with Steve/observations on RP inspired it. Glad I grabbed it, for sure.
