The late summer of 2018 roved to be a hot and humid one. Driving east from Tilbury, I saw this train at a distance heading west. Thinking I would be cutting it close, I quickly turned the car around and sped over to Rogers Road. This spot has always had a good vantage point with trains quickly coming around the bend. However, since this was before CP's recent work of clearing the shrubs away, and with the fading sunlight my only shot was to use my 75-300mm lens to attempt a head on shot.

And then I waited...and waited...and waited. Finally after a half an hour I heard the horn blow for the Monpetit Road crossing. And the train finally appeared...slowly rounding the curve. On point is CP 6256, a former SOO. And as I clicked away, the second engine passed in 6258, also formerly a SOO. Once it passed at a snail's pace, it stopped and started backing up. Then it continued slowly into the siding at Tilbury.

Even though it is the rail train, it was still worth the wait to see two former SOO units.

  1. Hi Todd. More SOO SD60′s, works for me.
Very nice light for your shot. That door open goes with another post we had on here just lately. :-)

  2. Well done.
