424 is a regular Edmonton to Winnipeg merchandise train. It is coming up on Clover Bar Yard, as the rear end is still on the high bridge over the North Saskatchewan River.
The GMD-1 is likely to be swapped out with a similar unit that will be sent to the shops for maintenance.

  1. Pretty crazy that consists like this still occur on cn today. CN guelph sub had one similar the other day…. it didnt make it to kitchener as it stalled on the hill.

  2. The lack of visible exhaust suggests that the GMD-1 is just being towed. I am thinking that it is destined for the small yard in Wainwright, but I could be wrong.
