Caption: An early morning in Moose Jaw last month brought with it an interesting sky and a couple of eastbounds. Here, 8857 heads up 118 as it rolls into the yard in Moose Jaw. The large building in the background is Viterra, where I watched K39 pull 74 loaded grain hoppers out of later on that morning. A shot for another day perhaps. Moose Jaw is a pretty good hub of activity with a lot of trains coming in and out, and there is enough overall activity and noteworthy places nearby, interesting yard power, and interesting power at the shops to help compensate for the abundance of red GEs.

I love being a part of your summer vacation through rail photos. This picture is a good example, checking on google earth, you’re pretty much standing in the middle of the rail action. There is just as much again to the east. Even another overpass (with fancy light standards & sidewalk) by the diesel shops to take photos of that area. Looking forward to your next post. Thanks a bunch Jamie for the work you have done on this project.
Thanks Larry that’s awful kind of you to say and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying them. I was up on the other overpass the previous day, earlier on this particular morning (shooting 852′s lead unit heading to the shops right after it got in), and again later this night shooting the SDs at the shops. Lots to do there – headed west on the Trans Canada chasing a few trains and staking out others, chased a K50 east out of town on the Weyburn Sub, and of course Moose Jaw itself. It was a good place to spend a weekend before finding some weekday shortline action out of Assiniboia. Certainly more to share over time, just don’t want to overdo it in the meantime!
