After an eastbound potash train cleared, CP 851 came out of the hole at Boharm with 11,000 feet of ballast empties in tow. With the pair of SDs trailing and my evening being entirely open, I gave chase and booked it through some pretty wet and saturated grid roads (the kind where I worried if I slowed down I'd end up stuck) on the way to the Trans Canada Highway, and headed west and caught up with them in Mortlach, where the sun had reappeared and they were again going in the hole to let four other trains pass. Safe to say 851 was pretty low on the pecking order for RTC.

    And Matt, it sure did. Didn’t even know this train was here so it was a pleasant surprise. Pretty sure I was just chasing the eastbound potash I mentioned in the caption for something to do (honestly think I chased them from Mortlach) then these guys came out of the hole and it was off to the chases and back to Mortlach again.
