  1. Never get tired seeing pictures of GMD1’s still in operation Myles. Very nice picture and the 1444 looking spiffy with its white painted hand rails, CN logo on the front end cover and plow. Like the way the short train is framed nicely by the Thames River Bridge. Is 1444 kept at Chatham. ? Thank you for sharing.

  2. Power is typically from London and dropped by 439 overnight and lifted on the return of the 438 that follows after 514′s run. Some exceptions to that rule.. for instance 7025 is in Chatham this morning having been dropped last night by 438.

  3. @railwayguy, thanks I never tire of seeing these beauties either, should be amazing to any railfan to see power this old on a class 1.

  4. Jamie, thank for the explanation. How often does a unit get dropped in Chatham by 438 ? Is there a CN crew stationed in Chatham ? Thanks

  5. Crewed out of Windsor

  6. Great location. I’ll have to remember this one.

  7. Always great to see GMD1′s in service still. They were not as much fun to operate as the SW12RS’s but to them on a class 1, along with all the versions of the GP9 is rare.
