PRMX 6972 is seen heading south from Westmoreland's Poplar River Mine to Saskpower's coal fired plant just outside Coronach SK with the first coal load of the day. I am hard pressed to think of any other active railways in Canada that exist for the sole purpose of transporting coal from mine to power plant. Are there any others ?

  1. What’s with the searchlight on the rear walkway of the unit?

  2. Looks like a hose reel to me. Possibly for blowing snow out of switches? Anyone got photo of the rear of the unit?

  3. Thats quite the emphasis on 69 :-) …just sayin.

  4. SCR operated by Logistec is somewhat similar….strictly coal….

  5. Jacob Patterson, hodgsontoaylen. It is indeed an air hose on a reel.

ngineered4u. Yes this is the unfortunate aftermath of the unit’s partial re-numbering when purchased from LLPX.

RLK2211. Thanks, I totally forgot about those guys.
