Here's an interesting train that Reg photographed around November 1975, it appears to be detouring Canadian Pacific freight #937 (the joint Montreal-Chicago train, that often had C&O power) lead by three C&O GP30's and a CP GP35, travelling westbound on CN's Oakville Sub and swinging up the Dundas Sub at Bayview. Upon further digging, this was one of the CP detours over CN due to the wreck on the Galt Sub at Puslinch on November 4th (see Arnold's photo here). The 3000-series Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad GP30's were modern mid-60's 4-axle power that was frequently seen operating over their own trackage in Southwestern Ontario for decades, well into the Chessie era. They were often leased to power-short CP for freight service. Reg Button photo, Dan Dell'Unto collection slide.

  1. We are so overdue for some reroutes… it’s been a long time

  2. Would this because of the infamous Mississauga mess

  3. I correct myself. This reroute is probably because of two brand new SD-40’s laying in the mud at Puslinch after hitting a truck at the west end crossing.
