After the E&N 1973-06-12 head-on collision near South Wellington, the four Baldwins involved were stored at Wellcox yard in Nanaimo, and in July 1974 were scrapped and sent off to the mainland for recycling. The cab of 8008, remarkably intact as seen from its front left (but totally demolished from the rear right), was torn from its home of twenty-six years, and deposited to one side for later loading into a scrap car.
