West of Stettler and east of Lacombe on the aptly named Lacombe subdivision, CP used to cross Tail Creek at mileage 74.3 between Nevis and Macbeth on a straight timber trestle bridge of significant proportions, later bypassed to the north by a curved fill with a culvert. On Thursday 1978-09-14 at 1021 MDT, that bridge was traversed by an eastward ballast work train with GP9s 8834 and 8662 for power.
