TTC PCC 4482 has just passed another PCC as it heads west on Queen Street East past the intersection for Kingston Road, operating on a Rt.501 Queen run enroute to Humber Loop. In the background is the famed Greenwood Raceway, Toronto's east end horse racing track that opened in 1874 as the "Woodbine Race Course" that stretched along the south side of Queen Street from Greenwood Avenue to Woodbine Avenue. A new track opened in suburban Etobicoke in 1956 as the "New Woodbine Racetrack", until the "new" was dropped in 1963, and the old Woodbine site here renamed "Greenwood Raceway" after extensive renovations. It was eventually closed in 1993, demolished, and the site redeveloped into residential housing and commercial developments. Joe Testagrose photo, Dan Dell'Unto collection slide.
