CN L56831 17 pulls out of the siding past the beautiful Stratford VIA station with CN 9639, CN 9449 and around 20 cars for various industries between Stratford and London.

Built in 1913 by the Grand Trunk, Stratford has seen Grand Trunk, CN, and now VIA trains stop at the station for the last 108 years. According to multiple new sites, GO will also begin service in Stratford in October 2021 as a pilot project for London-Toronto (and back) trains.

  1. I have been there on my time as a brakeman/conductor at CN…lol way back when the Guelph sub ended at Stratford and it was the Thorndale Sub that went on to London.
I hope the Metrolinx pilot project will be a sucess, but with running times from London to Toronto at 4 hours, it will be hard to lure people off the road that can make the trip in 1 hour

  2. Very nice, Isaac.

  3. Yeah, I’m not sure that the pilot project will do well, especially since they will be running at similar times as VIS 84 and 87.

  4. 1 hour from London to Toronto? Really lighting up the radar guns.

  5. Lol, my bad James. That should be 2 hrs to Toronto ????

  6. It is nice to see the customary flower baskets at the station. I have been told it is the city’s tourist office that provides them, not VIA. Considering the lack of tourists this year and the almost-shutdown of the Stratford Festival – not to mention only one of the usual two VIA round-trips being operated – I am surprised as well as pleased to see the flowers.

  7. The flowers add a nice touch :)
