When CN took over Northern Alberta Railways on 1981-01-01, change thankfully came slowly to start, with locomotives renumbered into the CN pattern but Northern Alberta markings and locomotive names left intact, as on CN 4611 (ex NAR 210) and CN 4610 (ex NAR 209) bracketing B-unit 9192 as a westward train approaches Sexsmith on Tuesday 1981-09-15 heading for Grande Prairie. The black-paint background for the cab-side number was later applied over the NAR diamonds and hood-side lettering, too, and that really hurt.
