Now lost to history as this stretch of track was abandoned in 1986, the hamlet of Opal (between Carbondale and Kerensky) was at mile 23.5 on NAR’s Lac La Biche sub., and on Wednesday 1980-09-24 saw the passage of GMD1s 311 and 303 on a Mixed Extra South which left Waterways in Fort McMurray the previous morning with an overnight at Lac La Biche.
