Caption: Headed downtown, CP Rail S3 6545 passes Tecumseh Street Tower with a boxcar in tow wearing the block lettering scheme. At right the smokestack of the Wellington Destructor can be seen towering over the scene. Originally built in 1925, the Wellington Destructor was Toronto's garbage incinerator for about fifty years, until it was closed in the mid 1970s. At this time it was used as a transfer station until decommissioning in 1986. Today the structure sits empty, but on Toronto's Heritage Register, and recently having undergone repairs in 2016. In the foreground, a Toronto Terminals Railway MoW stub track sits empty with two Racor model 20B switchstands, sans targets, sitting off to the side. CP 6545, Built by MLW in 1955, will serve the CP until retirement and scrapping in 1986.
