Caption: A rare chance of a CN powered VIA train - CN Essentially ran a passenger train from Chicago to Montreal in about 36 hours,as CN P698. A journey that started in California four days earlier on September 25, the train consisted of the class leaders of VIA's new Siemens fleet. Sitting in the front row of the class were VIA SC-42 2200, Business Class cars 2600 and 2700, regular coaches 2900 and 2800, cab car 2300, and locomotive 2210 which is (was?) labelled a SC-44. I'm still not sure why there are two different locomotive models here but informed sources are telling me one was labelled in error. A total of 32 trainsets are coming, and it would stand to reason a total of 32 locomotives are part of this deal with 30 locomotives and 31 trainsets left to be delivered. It'll be yet seen if they run more of these dedicated trains for delivery or if this was expedited for commissioning, training and testing purposes for VIA staff. The contract is for $989M CDN and will absolutely change the look of VIA trains in the corridor. Get your shots folks!
