In the early years of coal train operation from southeast BC to Roberts Bank, CP MLW M-630s were regular power as they were the first CP units equipped with Locotrol, as illustrated here by 4568 and 4564 (with SD40-2 5641 and SD40 5552 and Robot car 1009 mid-train) handling coal empties eastward alongside the Trans Canada Highway and crossing Emory Creek.

  1. Maybe common back then in coal service but a bit rare to see them captured so beautifully. They look solid in candy stripes, large multi-mark and running elephant style. Excellent image !
