With the final chapter closing on this rail line, it's time to take a look back through it's era's. My run in's with this line came during the "Cando Era" throughout the early 2000's. Little did I know at the time this would be my last time chasing the line and my last time catching the old girl powering a train along the line. In this image CCGX GP9 1000 is approaching Olde Baseline Road crossing just south of the hamlet of Inglewood, rolling through the Caledon Country Club on it's northbound journey back to Orangeville. CCGX 1000 would be replaced by GP9RM 4009 later this summer and made her final run November 1, 2008 heading up the northbound run of a Credit Valley Explorer excursion. She would be put into storage for a couple years before being reactivated working a spur line in Bath, Ontario. After her retirement she was sent to the CEMR deadline in Winnipeg, MB where she continues to languish until 2021. Disposition unknown as of the writing of this- likely scrapped.

  1. Great photo David…and caption too. Very informative…and your angle is, in my opinion a ‘classic pose’ for the power and consist. Well done.

  2. It was scrapped this month? Darn! Was anything else scrapped along with it?

  3. As recently as last week. Cut up at CEMR’s North Transcona Yard.

  4. In response to the scrapping Steve, I can only speculate from driving past the CEMR yard. As far as I could tell a couple days ago on my way by, their deadline hosts a couple SW units and the 2 GP15D’s…
