Caption: If there's one thing about the OSR and plowing, it's fish in a barrel. All you have to know is they're running and you can at least get *something*. Thanks to a well timed social media post, I heard they went from Woodstock to St. Thomas first thing in the morning with the Port Burwell sub to Tillsonburg to come later. Knowing a St. Thomas run takes hours, I knew I had a chance. I timed it just right so I could arrive as they were heading south, and lucky for me after a cloudy morning the sun came out at lunchtime for their relatively short (less than an hour) journey to Tillsonburg. Pictured for the first time a pair of repainted F units are on a plow as they head south passing snowmobile trails approaching the DeBruyen Farm. There was very little (snow) action to be had, but the F units and plow sure look purdy (heh heh heh) in the sun.

Well timed indeed as a certain someones’s article in R&R about plows on the GEXR just showed up at my door.

For those unaware, these plows were home built by CPR roughly 100 years ago. We used to have a double track plow at Guelph Jct that was built in 1915. So far as I know, it and most of these “eastern” plows have been scrapped. CP still uses a variation of this type of plow in the mountains.

I am led to believe these plows especially 401005 was rebuilt in 1927 from a wooden plow built in 1907… the interior is all tongue and groove like an old wooden caboose
So they may be even older….
Also this was the first run of the f’s since the JAB memorial train.
