Area "H" reflections. After spending a hour along the Area H spur in Etobicoke on Saturday, all I could think of was the scale model creations of layout maker Lance Mindheim. He is well know for his real to life industrial spur HO scale switching layouts, such as the Miami spur and Los Angeles spur. These spurs along with CP's Area H consist of numerous rail served local industries, (some abandoned). Rails imbedded in the roads and parking lots they encounter as well as along active roadsides. While this image doesn't do justice to most of that, just watching the crew do their work left me looking forward to my next visit. Unfortunately the local has to back southward down the spur, making decent sunny day shots hard to come by, at least with the power leading. Nevertheless the area is worth a visit, typically Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Here the train is seen reflecting in a puddle deep along the spur as they switch out tank cars.
