In 1972, CP’s E&N subsidiary constructed a new depot at mileage 0.8 in Victoria to replace the mileage 0.0 one on Store Street to allow for street reconfiguration, meaning daily-except-Sunday passenger trains would no longer reach the downtown area.

Here, on Friday 1972-10-13, the next-to-last No. 2 to arrive the old depot is seen from the machinery deck (with bridgetender permission) of the mileage 0.1 Johnson Street bridge. The switch immediately behind the train is to the CN interchange, and the small bridge beyond that is today’s end-of-track on the Victoria subdivision.
