A warm, late in the summer sunny day, finds No. 91 on the way north with an extra baggage car added in for good measure. There was not many runs made with the older noodle scheme GP38's. I liked it when these units did lead as, although the cars all look VIA, everything is labelled with a nice CN.

  1. What was the last car,a caboose of some sort??

  2. Yes, a former Northern Alberta caboose that was partly repainted, and renumbered to CN 79101.

Looks like CN 7856-CN 7855-CN 5099 for the passenger consist. The first two are former Northern Alberta cars (NAR 1460 and NAR 1454), while the coach is a CN CC&F six axle car, originally numbered 5209 and a regular on this run during the 1980s. All three are preserved, the two baggage cars are both at the Alberta Railway Museum in their NAR numbers and paint, and the coach is now owned by the Rocky Mountain Rail Society (the CN 6060 group).

  3. CN 79101 – Ex NAR 13020, Blt by CP, 1949.

  4. This is a great shot. So many contrasting eras.
