The often illusive SW900, Evraz #11 emerges from the roll shop with some freshly loaded coil cars on a hazy May evening. Recent news states that the Russian based steel company (Evraz) has decided to sell off it's North American subsidiaries including this Regina location. Evraz has owned the mill since 2008, before which it was owned and operated by IPSCO since the late 1950's. At one point the IPSCO was the largest employer in the city of Regina. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Western Canada's largest steel mill.

  1. Ipsco had a big mill in Edmonton, I believe they had a strike which closed the mill for good. Both CN and CP had spurs into the mill.
