    Nice time machine shot with Arnold’s. A question for you or Paul. What are those white columns seen between the main and siding that are popping up all over?

    Hi Jacob. I’m the Work Equipment O’Shell. My brother Terry who posted the photo is the S&C guy. He will have to provide the details on that silo that track machines are NOT supposed to make contact with. :-)

    The white PVC tube is a Shunt Tube Enclosure and is designed to accommodate a track shunt for motion sensitive crossing control equipment. The Shunt Tube Enclosure can also be used as a junction for cable and track wires in high lightning areas for added circuit protection. Cable and track wires enter through the bottom of the enclosure. The enclosures are typically buried 8 to 10 feet from the rail to prevent interference with track maintenance machinery.
