Exercising trackage rights over CN to get to Nanticoke, CP RS18 8791 and leased C&O GP38 4828 lead a CP-TH&B Steel Train eastbound on CN's Cayuga Subdivision through Jarvis, just about to hit the Main St. N. crossing at the north end of town. The train came off CP (the old LE&N trackage) at Simcoe, and is heading eastbound over CN's Cayuga Sub between Simcoe and Garnett (east of Jarvis), where it will take CN's Nanticoke Sub south.

  1. Great image!

  2. Fabulous photo. Too bad it’s all gone now, except for a shed or two.

  3. Very nice.

  4. While the subject matter is rare unto itself, the framing Reg did on this photo is rather artful. Train framed between a tree and the crossing arm, nicely done

I imagine the RS18 was also rather rare on this job too? Haven’t seen too many, usually it was C424′s or lease power..

  5. Taken 22 months before my dad retired as CN Roadmaster at Jarvis. Our house was on the south side of the tracks right about where the van is. Lots of train viewing from that location. Note the offset crossarms on the two telegraph poles next to the grain elevators. Looks like brand new gate arms on the crossing protection. The American Hotel just out of frame on the right. Lots of memories in that shot.

  6. Sitting on new concrete piers, the gate mast has been relocated closer to the Cayuga Sub. and the Hagersville Sub. track removed through the roadway. Looks like the Maintainer took the opportunity to have some new red and white wood installed.
