Sometimes cp sets off cars in w.coak. probably what happened here
Based on the cars and scanner chatter, I believe OSR took them right off the H88s train.
Yes and that happens too
All depends on timing.
Also traffic impacts what they do, the autoracks are not normally on the Pickup but are set off in other locations. Naturally that traffic is way down.
BTW the yard is called Jellicoe.
Jellicoe? Who named that??
CP.. a long time ago. Here’s a link to a 1948 timetable that has it shown. It’s still known as this today but it’s not in the timetable, it’s basically Jellicoe yard.

Don’t forget that due to the Pittock Dam the mainline was also relocated between Woodstock and basically the Toyota Spur Switch in the 60′s. Coakley and W. Coak are later constructions as are all the signals in there.
Was the mainline located on the south side of the reservoir in the past? TMike
Yes, very much so, you can follow it – the trail is the old right of way, and the Toyota spur bridge is also the old right of way, re-used.
My understanding is the signals were re-located too (and likely replaced over time)
To clarify the Jellicoe, Woodstock, Coakley issue… Jellicoe was at one time a timetable designated siding, it was decommissioned by the time I started in 1973 and just a yard track. Jellicoe was comprised of what was called the passing track, and back track. Those tracks were accessible at both ends. The back track had a somewhat uncommon split rail derail.
Woodstock yard referred to the tracks in front of the station, as well as those east of Oxford street up to just west of the Hwy 59 overpass. Coakley is the siding that the 1244 is pulling out of in this shot. W Coak was a recently (20 yrs) track east of the Coakley siding. I haven’t worked that area since 2003. They may have connected W Coak & Coakley siding. And Stephernm’s remarks about the track going on the other side of the reservoir & back where the track and bridge from “Pender” is now. The bridge abutments for that spur to Toyota are the originals on the former main track before the dam was put in & Pittock lake created as part of flood mitigation measures along the Thames river after Hurricane Hazel. I hope this clarifies things.
I should add, the Jellicoe tracks were west of the last road crossing, Givens Street, which was closed off years ago when the main track was moved over from the station to the former Woodstock passing track. Jellicoe tracks ran west from that point to just east of the underpass over Hwy 2.
