VIA 6446, VIA 6459 haul the Canadian through the Don Valley in Toronto as the fall colours start showing hints of change. Unfortunately, the lower Don Valley was mostly yellows this year and had very few vibrant red shades present. Also, although it isn't shown in the photo, this was the 2nd last VIA 2 without the buffer car on the tail. An end of an era for sure.

  1. Hi Issac, the buffer cars are at the moment only temporary until they can come up with a solution, if at all. We have to wait and see if they are able to rectify the issue first.

Cars are being sent for testing and the results of the tests will determine the next steps. For now the protection measures are in place as ordered by Transport Canada.

  2. I sure hope the buffers are temporary…

  3. Isaac, nice picture and there is one vibrant red on the left. Earlier in Oct there were more vibrant reds in the upper part of the Don Valley. Not heard what VIA is doing (if anything) to rectify the problem causing use of buffer cars with heritage passenger cars.

  4. Thanks for the kind words. I know the nortj end of the Don Valley was bursting with vibrance this fall but the south end got the short end of the stick.

  5. You have to find the spots that are GOOD because it changes every year. Some years nothing is good. Some years entire swaths of areas are good. Some years it’s just small spots.
