After a brief station stop, AC 154, an EMD GP7 built in March 1951 leads a small passenger train northbound out of Oba, ON in July of 1976. This Algoma Central consist includes AC 154, AC 74 steam generator unit, AC 201 express baggage, AC 209 express baggage, AC 422 coach, and, AC 424 coach. The CN Oba station on CN's Ruel Sub. can be seen at the right of the photo. I was working in Oba at the time on a CN regional tie renewal gang and took the opportunity to walk across CN's yard and onto the ACR yard tracks to capture this movement as it continued its journey to Hearst, ON.

  1. My goodness, this is very nice. Thanks for sharing this one. :-)

  2. Fantastic shot of a beautiful train.

  3. What a great vintage photo, takes me back about 12 years earlier when we would have first saw the ACR passenger train in Hearst as kids. In the distance I see the ACR Train Order Signal which was back to back searchlight signals. The Oba station was built by the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) in 1913 as a shared facility. I always enjoyed going through Oba and seeing an ACR passenger train sitting at the station.
