This unit train is returning back to Edmonton with 36 sulphur loads, scale test car CN52108 (it went up north on June 19th) and caboose 79286. The time is 19:00 and here is one of the few photos I shot at Gibbons. Except for a couple of tall hoppers in the middle, it is almost a solid train of short ones.

  1. Love all these F unit images you have. What an amazing era.

  2. For a couple of months during the summer of 85 it did go a little crazy with the f units. It’s like CN new the units were going to be stationed in another part of Canada, and, they were making good use of them before they left. It sure felt as if some hostler had spare time and put these ABA consists together, it only happened a couple of times.
    Thanks Marcus :-)

  3. Quite incredible!

  4. Yes, I favour this one myself, the front windows on the 9167 do not have the attachments surrounding them yet for plow service. :-)

  5. My goodness….. amazing!

  6. I had you in mind while preparing this photo, this will be as close as I get with pictures to the Bon Accord area. Thanks bcr :-)

  7. Another great shot. Looks like a boarding car consist in the backtrack.

  8. Those work train cars were a common sight in many of the sidings for a couple of years during the mid 80′s. The track went from backwoods branch line to a smooth and straight track. Thanks Terry. :-)

  9. The last visual remembrance of the Bon Accord line was a length of MOW cars sitting where Northern most Elevator was. Included was a CN module car.

  10. I’m likin’ the insulated & heated water tank and red fleet boarding car tucked in the siding. ????
