3000 horsepower GMD muscle moves potash through the Thompson Canyon: CN SD40 units 5102, 5231 and 5187 work with SD40-2W 5267 hauling a long westbound potash train of covered hoppers along the Fraser River in the Thompson Canyon (not sure of the exact location, but it's somewhere south of Lytton).

  1. If this is south of Lytton, it will be the Fraser Canyon with the combination of the Fraser and Thompson rivers flowing in it. That is one of the interesting things to watch at Lytton is where the 2 rivers flow together, mixing of the silty Fraser with clear water of the Thompson. My guess will be, this is somewhere upstream of Lytton, just for how clear the river is. If Joe H. is still reading these posts, he would be a good one to suggest where this may be. He took a number of photos in this area. :-)
