The New Look Of VIA. On the morning of April 4, 2023, VIA Rail Canada Train 33 (Quebec City, QC-Ottawa, ON) was assigned a Siemens Venture train set, seen being led by Cab Car SIIX 2301 (consist: coaches 2901, 2801, 2701, 2601 and locomotive SCV-42 2202) as it departs Gare Central in Montreal, Quebec. VIA has ordered 32 of these train sets to equip its inter-city fleet. The tracks to the left of frame show the ongoing construction for the new REM (Réseau express métropolitain or Metropolitan Express Network) a fully automated light rail system that will significantly change the transit options in the Montreal area.

    Very nice Marc, not only showing VIA’s “way of the future “ and change in their inter-city rolling stock, but also the changing skyline of downtown Montreal. Will be interesting to see the increased rail activity when the REM starts up.Thanks for sharing, John
