GTW 5849 leads the 07:00 job "down the hole", crossing Simcoe Street East on the N&NW Spur on their way to spend the morning switching north end Hamilton industries. In true Hamilton fashion, I spent a good length of time kicking garbage out of the shot, only to have a homeless dude show up and park his shopping cart right in the way. Thankfully, he allowed me to relocate his worldly possessions so I could get the photo and not interrupt his scavenging.

  1. Rob, very good, and GT colour as well. It amazes me that, as you say, “going down the hole” passes through some very nice appearing residential areas just blocks away from the “gritty” industrial areas of north Hamilton. Nicely composed, even including the flashing crossing light and the blue parked auto in the distance, the “blue” colour close to matching the blue of 5849. Well done and thank you for your persistence, John
