When thinking of CN 7000 series, first comes to mind are the GP9RMs. Almost forgotten now are the 7000-7009 series of GMD SW-9 switchers that arrived on CN during 1952 and 1953. A few of the bunch were later renumbered into the 7700 series, but life was unkind to the first of the lot....CN 7000. It was retired a year after this photo was taken; gone from the roster by late December 1984.. It is looking a little worse for wear as seen here at the old Stuart St yard diesel facility down on the Hamilton waterfront.

    I worked many times on this one when i was at toronto yard DS in 1972,good souvenir.

    The 7000 really made the rounds. I spent a few weeks working with her at Clover Bar in Edmonton during the summer of 78, on the 2 relief. :-)

    Coincidence with dates, your photo 09/11/83, my last time working with the 7000 09/11/78.
