Having departed Sudbury, ON on time at 09:00 earlier in the day, VIA 185 has arrived at White River, ON Mile 129.9 CP White River Sub. at 18:15 hrs. just one hour and ten minutes late.
Robin, the VIA Service Manager has made arrangements for me to get a lift to my motel from non-other than the former Mayor of White River! The same courtesy was extended to me at 06:30 the next morning for my return trip to Sudbury. Good old northern Ontario hospitality at its finest! :-)
The former CP station, now lettered for VIA Rail is in rather rough condition with many windows broken and boarded up, and no access to the interior. I was disappointed to find the individual letters spelling out WHITE RIVER on the east end roof of the building were no longer there. :-(
As you can see by the beautiful blue sky, it was another great day to be train travelling and taking photos!
Retirement is great!!! :-)

  1. Do they put the Budd units away in the yard overnight or do they stay on the station track?

  2. The Budd cars were moved somewhere in the yard after arrival in White River. I did not see where they were located overnight.
