Some of the stores visible in the background are the Silver Moon (Chinese & Polynesian Food), Pleasant Smoke Shop, Pleasant Hardware (Home Hardware franchise?), Lobster Gourmet and Imperial Jewellers. The “Central cooling” ad in the background is advertising Coca Cola as as solution to the heat).
