In the absence of modern wayside electronic axle/bearing heat sensors on portions of the Hudson Bay Railway line, VIA trains on the trip to Churchill have to stop periodically for a roll-by manual laser temperature reading of each axle end bearing.
VIA 690 is getting checked out by the second engineer at HBR Pikwitonei, MB Mile 214 Thicket Sub. during my southbound trip to The Pas, MB on March 15, 2023.
