The morning of Sunday, November 13, 1977 finds ONR SD40-2 1730 sitting at the north end of the North Bay shops, while Members of the Upper Canada Railway Society capture a few photos.UCRS members were up north for the weekend, having taken train 123, the Northlander, from Toronto on Fri. Nov. 11 up to North Bay.  The excursion on Sat. Nov. 12 ran to Elk Lake, Adams Mine, Swastika, and Kirkland Lake, returning to North Bay later in the evening.  Members would return south to Toronto on Northlander 122 on Sunday afternoon.  More details of the weekend's event can be found in the March-April 1978 UCRS newsletter.Today, ONR 1730 once again wears this scheme as ONR's heritage unit.

  2. As a one time DOFASCO employee, I also enjoy seeing the dedicated Ore hoppers that were seemingly endless as they moved onto the Bayfront Ironmaking complex in The Hammer. Thanks for posting.
