    One time we were sitting in the car at the other side of the station and a 5700 Hudson came through at speed. Dropped a nice chunk of ballast right on the hood of the car and was gone in a flash!

    Another beauty capture!
    Those are diesel driven Broom Wade air compressors mounted on air driven rail carts, powering Safetran (Raco?) model SD-80 pneumatic spike drivers.
    Over the years, and prior to the introduction of modern self-propelled automatic multiple spike drivers, CN used a variety of cart mounted air compressors to power the walk-behind spikers, such as Canadian Pneumatics, Broom Wade (CompAir), Holman, Sullair, and Atlas Copco.
    I recognize several of the Group III machine operators and labourers in the photo!
