Tis the season.... Dave Young was the fist to post a plowing shot from the past this year - and a great shot it is and now that the snow is finally flying, I thought I'd dig into my archives. It was 10 years ago that I followed OSR's plow for the first time on a beautiful sunny blue sky morning. I couldn't get the plow runs years earlier due to family commitments - but glad folks like Dave Young did! After a few hours following OSR as they ran to St. Thomas with a gaggle of folks including Jim Brown>/a> I headed home for Guelph but decided to head through Stratford, as I heard they ran a plow the night before - expecting to get something parked by the station, I instead found the plow arriving back at Stratford after a run to Goderich - in the exact spot Dave photographed his above. Expecting them to park the train on a track just east of the Station, imagine my surprise when they got a clearance to head west - I wasn't going home anytime soon. After alerting a few friends including the folks who were following OSR earlier that day, it was off to the races to find a spot for a 2nd plow on the same day, and this is what I was able to do. Given they went faster back then (only 25 MPH today) I'm surprised I got anything at all.
My first chase in '07 - before kids!
The pair together again on a plow, for the first and only time under OSR (so far)
There's lots of photos (GEXR) (OSR) (CN - ooh) (CP - Thomson) on this site. Click to search and find something that perhaps you'll affix your gold star to. Hats off to everyone who braved the weather and shared their stuff. You gotta love winter driving to do this kind of stuff or have amazing friends willing to take you along :)

On a somber note, Nick Mares, a coworker and friend of mine who came along with me on a couple plow runs, and who thoroughly enjoyed the experience passed away earlier this week. Rest in peace buddy.
