Seeing one B-unit was common, two B-units was a frequent occurrence, but today, CN #436 has cornered the market on B-units: three CN F7Bu's (9190, 9192, 9195) make up most of #436's power today, with GP40-2W 9656 in the lead and SW1200 7021 trailing (not being equipped with MU, it was just along for the ride). The train is on the Grimsby Sub in St. Catharines, possibly viewed from the St. Paul Street overpass.

As part of it's 1970's rebuilt program, CN rebuilt 10 F7B units into the 9190-9199 series to run with their 30 rebuilt F7A's. They were common power running with the A's, GP9's, and more modern power into the late 1980's. Most ended up scrapped, but CN 9190 was acquired by the Feather River Rail Society and painted up as Western Pacific 725B, to go with their WP FP7 805A.

  1. And 9190 was one of a smaller number of the rebuilt Fs (9150-9161 and 9190-9192, the class of ’72) to get the original “passenger” version of the stripe scheme, which it still has here, while 9192 has been repainted. By 1973, the M420 and GP38-2(W) units were arriving with the “new” zebra livery, which was adopted for the remainder of the rebuilt Fs as well.
