A long time favourite spot for me on the north end of the Hamilton subdivision was this crossing north of Carlisle. Some 26 years ago I took my first shot here, back then if you heard a 5400 leading a train, you didn’t miss it. Definitely some of the more colourful units as far as history goes. Here CP 5423, an ex UP/MP SD40-2 leads a borrowed NS SD40 and another CP SD40 as they head southbound through the snow.
