Extra 1069 was rounding the corner at mile 24.4 with a train of grain hoppers as it returns back to Edmonton. Interesting grouping of the units, CN's at each end, ex-NAR's in the middle.

  1. Holy Canadian classic Batman…coke cans to boot…you’ve been saving the good stuff !!

  2. Spectacular!! :-)

  3. Nice, and long hood leading.

  4. Thank you everyone. :-)
It’s cool that the 1069, at this late date, had the builders plate still attached on the side of the frame.

  5. It was gone 16 years later in August of 2002. :-)

  6. Four!!! Wow. Now question what was the front of these babies? Long or short hood.

  7. CN’s units were built long hood forward, NAR’s were short hood forward.

  8. The CN’s, 1069 & 1076, are long hood forward. The ex-NAR’s, 1082 & 1081, are short hood forward. You can see the bells on the short hoods of the NAR’s, horns on the cab roof also (Ouch! that would hurt, very noisy). Horns are on the long hood of the CN’s (much better :-) ).
