Caption: It's the spring of 1978 and change is in the air--not just the weather, but for rail passenger service in Canada. VIA Rail Canada is no longer a subsidiary of CN (1 April 1978) and has acquired CN's passenger equipment. CP's passenger equipment and operations will be acquired by fall (28 October 1978). For now, much of the equipment operating is still in CN or VIA CN colours. And, as hard as it is to think this, by 1986 the Spadina roundhouse and coach yard will have closed.
