Hey, that's not a new locomotive
CN 3417 (nee-CN 2594) has a new crew on board and is rolling slowly across Hazel Avenue at Mile 0.29 Albreda Sub. at the west end of CN's Jasper Yard on September 16, 2025.
The on-board crew were super friendly with their horn, waves, and information on what appeared to be a 'new' unit. :-)

  1. Brilliant colours!!!

  2. Thanks Don. The weather in Jasper during my 2-day layover last week was spectacular! I’m starting to get the hang of my Nikon D850 and the results are quite evident in this pic. :-)

  3. Nicely captured. Good location.

  4. Thanks Terry. Hazel Avenue at the west end of Jasper yard is a great location for morning to noon shots. A few large boulders along the street just off the right-of-way make for good perches. :-)

  5. Interesting coincidence, a unit in the 34 hundred series and conductor with 34 years of service. During my time at CN, the west end out of Edmonton was the domain of men with a lot of whiskers. :-)

  6. Good morning L.
Great observation on the 34′s. :-)
