A tale of 734. 734 is a Chicago to Ontario train that is completely random. It is almost always entirely empty autoracks that it peddles across Southern Ontario, sometimes filling sidings, sometimes the yards at Pender and Wolverton, and who knows where else. It can also sit for days when there's no place to put them. Sometimes it terminates at Wolverton, or London, sometimes it becomes power for 137, or is used for numerous other jobs. As often as not, it uses foreign power.

Today, it worked its usual magic, setting off the last of its cars at Wolverton. Likely to fill a need for tomorrow, it was going to run light power to Toronto. Then Murphy got involved. Toronto -Welland 236 was heavy.....really heavy, and stalled on the Niagara Escarpment west of Milton. But an hour after stalling, 734's power showed up.....and became the pusher, eventually shoving 236 to Campbellville, where it would begin its long descent into Hamilton.

In the 2.5 hours it took to get that done, someone decided the ower should go west...and go west it did, approaching Cambridge on a wonderful fall afternoon....but looking very lonely....kind of like Thomas on a bad day.
