At Victoria on Thursday 1974-10-24, freight train No. 51 was all together and about to depart for Stockett and onward to Wellcox in Nanaimo with Baldwins CP 8002 and 8000 for power. Below on the right were cars for or from US interchange via Island Tug and Barge.

(p)On the extreme right of the photo, the railbarge facility with a loaded barge at the slip can be seen. My understanding is interchange traffic went to Port Townsend or Seattle, particularly newsprint loads from Port Alberni for San Francisco.

  1. And the float plane? Wow

  2. Float planes departing or arriving in Victoria harbour were a frequent photo complication — that one worked out okay.
