It used to take a lot of men, with a lot of shovels, a lot of hours, to do what this Knox Kershaw KSF940 ballast regulator can do in a matter of minutes. This 2012 version of the KKI machine helps maintain the ballast ahead of and behind the surfacing machine on this CP prairie line. Proper ballast profiling is essential to maintain adequate drainage and a solid track structure.

  1. These broom’s are no good in the winter… To light on the front end with the engine at the back. M series any day!

  2. Ran this exact same broom for Cando at PCS Rocanville in the winter with all the snow fighting attachments we had it worked fine for us got the job done. The Kershaws KSF940 is a nice machine to have for surfacing.

  3. The KSF940 replaced the older model KSF925 ballast regulator. It is a purpose built snow fighter with design improvements to distribute machine weight across the entire length of the unit. Units built from 2010 to date are in use across Canada and on CN and CP US lines.
