Stewart Southern Railway has become one of the companies to watch in Saskatchewan for there innovative oil train, if one was to drive down this line early in the CP days between 2000 and the time that they sold the Tyvan Sub to SSR one would rarely find a single hopper along the line. Oddly enough you may find yourself finding the same thing driving along the highway from Regina to Stoughton as it has become solid oil cars parked at once busy grain elevator sidings. Today Stewart Southern and there fleet of 6 units (3 B23-7'S and GP15D'S) have been busy with there recent business at Stoughton which has quickly become one of the oil hubs in the bakken oil field territory. As of recently a friend and former co-worker at Cando now with Ironhorse Rail Service has helped build a two track 50 car spot specifically for oil because Blair Stewart the owner of Stewart Southern has simply ran out of capacity. Thanks to the economic boom making Saskatchewan one of the richest provinces in Canada this 89 mile long piece of tangent track which is one of the longest in Canada without any curves has stayed alive and continues to surprise folks.
