Pictured is a joint bar on the CN Hagersville Subdivision. Every day the SOR runs two trains across this track. Their main commodity is fuel from the ESSO plant in Nanticoke and steel from the US Steel works also in Nanticoke. A joint bar holds together two pieces of track with four bolts in total. What is cool about a joint bar in this shot is that all the bolts are not facing the same way. This is done so that when a derailment occurs there is less of a chance of having the track seperate and made the derailment more severe. The joint bar in the photo was manufactured in 1947 and has seen many changes to this line over the last 65 years and will probably be around to see many more years of change.
